In the full size economy 305 Sprints George Riden became a repeat winner.

Two red flags for multiple 305 Sprints on their wings slowed that feature but George Riden moved from fifth into second behind Todd Spangler on lap nine and held on to pass Spangler by diving into turn four on lap 18. At the finish Riden, Mike Heckman, Tyler Bear, Spangler and Jim Kennedy filled in the front five. The heat race winners were Mike Freet and Spangler.

Joey Hershey wins at Path Valley

6/15/2008 8:12:13 AM

Friday the Thirteenth took a sideswipe at the Path Valley Speedway with heavy rain to open and close the program and plenty of crashes and flips to thrill the fans.

Joey Hershey outran a good field in the full size 305 Sprints and Hyper Racing’s Mike Dicely picked up the win in the 600 Sprints. Steve Whary returned to victory lane in the 270 Sprints and the Sidewinders 1000cc Sprint win went to Ryan Greth.

The top feature, for the 305 Sprints, got off to a rocky start on lap four when Mike Wagner flipped onto his wing on turn four. Mike Freet continued to lead from his second place start until lap eight when, as he encountered Jake Waters at the rear of the pack, Joey Hershey managed to pass him through turns two and into three. On the very next lap Freet passed Hershey but could not reclaim the lead as the #98 of Wes Zimmerman flipped upside down between turns three and four with Todd Spangler’s #33 to hold it down for a red flag before the lap was completed. With Hershey in the lead on the last completed lap, he continued to lead for the restart and Freet tried desperately to pass him again, but at the finish the front five were still Hershey, Freet, Tyler Bear, Craig Laudermilch and Brent Comp.

305 Sprints _ Joey Hershey (started 1), Mike Freet, Tyler Bear, Craig Laudermilch, Brent Comp, Michael Heckman, Jason Brandt, Jeff Sell, Todd Spangler, Ben Naugle, George Riden, Jim Kennedy, Jake Waters, Wes Zimmerman, Michael Wagner, John Henne. Heats to Laudermilch and Zimmerman.
